Benjamin Walker Wyche, son of John Ira Wyche and Alice May (Vincent) Wyche, was born August 29, 1914, in Weldon, N.C. He was educated in Weldon public schools and was a graduate of Davidson College, receiving his B.A. degree in 1933. He began his career as a wholesale grocer in 1942, working for his parents in the family owned business, Merchants Distributing Company.
